"The house of Christ's peace"

as an idea was born and realised by the late head of our Holy Church,

Archimandrite Kyrillos Rigas,

in the mid-eighties.

With much effort and with extreme hard work  the foundations were laid and the building  was constructed, an initiative unique for its time.

On 7 December 1979, the new philanthropic offer to our fellow-citizens was consecrated.

The fundamental aim was to offer meals to about 50 people in the hall of the institution.

The voluntary work of the women of our parish, their everyday enthusiasm, their never-ending effort and their most delicious cooking all mean that the "House of Christ's peace" today, 26 years later, offers meals on an everyday basis to more than 150 of our fellow-citizens of all ages. This covers the needs of the whole of the municipality of Nea Ionia. Nobody is excluded from this offer.

Hospitality being one of the major characteristics of all the refugees from Asia Minor, it is understandable to also find it in a parish that had its foundations in the great waves of the fugitive Greeks from Asia Minor.

By putting into practice the commandment of Jesus Christ, the believing members of our parish continue to financially support the functioning of the institution. For this we warmly THANK THEM!

The European Union, by recognising the social work undertaken over many years, occasionally supplies food and other goods, which help the institution greatly.
